My Keys to Himali Eats
What’s up fam!?! It’s Big Klotz here and I’m bringing you the first installment of My Keys (my name is Mikey after all)!
I grew up in the restaurant industry and my favorite part is the FOOD! Hospitality and service is important too but that can be subjective and we want to CELEBRATE the eats!
Here’s the deal, I check out a local (3YUM6) favorite and give you My Keys to a solid experience. Menu items you can’t go wrong with, hidden menu items, far out combos and anything that will guide you to SFFE (Super Fantastic Food Experience)!
Today, we jump into Himali Eats and take a trip to the foothills of the Himalayas for a Nepalese flavor that is AUTHENTIC!
Himali Eats is located at 3238 E Douglas Ave, Wichita, KS 67208 and is open Wednesday through Monday 11am to 8:30pm.
MoMo cuisine - these ain’t your mama’s dumplings. A MoMo is tender dough filled with a flavorful blend of your ground meat of choice, vegetable chutney, and the perfect blend of Nepali spices that are then cooked to your liking (steamed, pan fried or deep fried). Each MoMo is hand wrapped in a freshly made soft dough wrapper. One of a kind experience!
MY KEYS:
Kothe MoMo: Pan fried MoMos, filled with pork. Crispy and tender. Chili dipping sauce is the perfect compliment. GREAT ITEM FOR THE TABLE. Be cautious, these MoMos are binge worthy and could have you ordering Mo.
Johl MoMo: MAJOR KEY ALERT!!!! Steamed MoMos, filled with chicken and swimming in a curry soup…**air horn** this is where it’s at!!!! Seriously, the curry was straight fire. Probably the secret agent in this delectable dish. The slurpable, creamy vessel that brings forth tender, pillowy MoMos that SLAP you awake with flavor! Drop that air horn ONE MORE TIME!!!!! *ber ber ber berrrrrrrrrrrrr*
Chili MoMo: Steamed MoMos, filled with chicken sautéed in a bath of chili sauce that is just spicy enough to make you say “yeah, that’s good.” If that wasn’t enough, crisp onions and peppers join the party….not an afterthought though! If you like Kung Pao Chicken…I would put this up against it…and I’m a big Kung Pao Chicken fan. It’s almost a different, elevated version and done very well.
Biggest Key: Don’t hesitate to switch up the proteins for your fillings. There are vegetarian options too!!
Get the MoMos pan fried and THEN ask for them to bask in the golden curry…literally just thought of this (100% doing that next time).
This is a shareable dining experience. Anticipate going in a group, order different items, try it all! Enough small bites to fill up and enjoy what Himali Eats has to offer. You can find their website here.
